Residential Front Entry Restoration

Project Type: Residential
Location: Calgary, AB
Services: Exterior design, concrete pouring & finishing, and hard landscaping
Timeline: Three weeks

  • Pittman Concrete restored a Calgary residential front entry in three weeks, solving access issues.
  • Services included concrete design, brushed concrete sidewalk and steps, and hard landscaping.
  • Every element was managed in-house by Pittman Concrete as the project's general contractor.

The Project

When a Calgary homeowner purchased their property, they inherited two problems that made daily life more frustrating than it should be: no functional access to the front door and overgrown landscaping that blocked views from inside and out.

Having seen Pittman Concrete's portfolio of past work and in-house design-build experience, they made the decision to reach out to our team. Three weeks later, they had a front entry that worked the way it should.

The Challenge

Mature trees and established plant material filled the space where a proper front walkway needed to go. The goal was to create a large, accessible entry and walkway while preserving as much of the mature planting as possible. That required careful planning, deliberate removal, and a design that worked with the landscape rather than against it.

The Scope

Design

Pittman Concrete's in-house, award-winning designer developed the full exterior design and project plan before a single shovel hit the ground. Working within the homeowner's budget and wishlist, she mapped out a design that solved both the access and the visual openness problems — while preserving the character of the established landscaping where possible.

Concrete Pour & Finish

Brushed concrete was used throughout, providing a clean, durable finish suited to a high-traffic front entry. Concrete elements included:

  • Sidewalk leading to and surrounding the residence
  • Steps providing proper access to the front entry

Full Project Scope

Beyond the concrete, Pittman Concrete managed and delivered:

  • Excavation and forming
  • Concrete sealing
  • Strategic removal of existing trees and plant material
  • Hard landscaping
  • Hand-picked boulder selection and placement
  • New planting
  • Conduits laid for future electrical

The Result

A complete front entry restoration was completed in three weeks, transforming it from an inaccessible, overgrown entry into a functional, well-designed space with a brushed concrete walkway, proper steps, hard landscaping, handpicked boulders, and planting. Every item on the client's wishlist was delivered within budget, with Pittman Concrete managing every phase of the project in-house.
